Environment

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Heads the Department of Environmental Services, formulate and evaluate policies relating to Environment matters.
  • Develop regulations and standards on all environmental issues.
  • Inspection of Residential, Commercial, Industrial and Food premises, including Primary School Vocational Institutions.
  • Coordination/Maintenance of Public Toilets.
  • Registration of private sewage dislodges and control of sewage collection and disposal.
  • Beautification/landscaping of street/open spaces and environmental conservation within the Local Government.
  • Liaison with State and Federal Agencies such as LASEPA, Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) and other relevant Agencies on any environmental related matters.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Heads the Department of Works and Infrastructure.
  • Coordinates the activities of all units in the Department.
  • Serves as the Chief Adviser on policy initiation and execution of all building and construction projects in the Local Government/Local Council Development Area.
  • Ensures that Works and Infrastructural activities as laid down in the development plan are complied with by the Local Government/Local Council Development Area.
  • Prepares and publishes monthly and annual Works and Infrastructure statements of the Local Government/Local Council Development Area.

Objective of the Department:

Projecting the good image of the local government

Regulating information in the Local Government

Serves as intermediary between government and the public

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises the Information Unit
  • Advises the Local Government on matters relating to information dissemination.
  • Issues Press Releases on the directives of the Chairman.
  • Coordinates collection, collation and release of information on behalf of Local Government/Local Council Development Area
  • Assessment of the impact of Government’s programme and projects on populace and create feedback mechanism.

 

The information department was established alongside with the establishment of the local government.

Registry

Documentation for Marriage Registry

  • 2 passport Photograph
  • Birth Certificate of both couple
  • If Divorce ( a certificate of divorce)
  • If a Widow/Widower (Death Certificate of the former spouse)

 

Note: Couple must observe 21 working days from the day of documentation before getting certificate.

 

Counseling

Couple are expected to choose a Thursday for the 4 hours counselling session.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Registration of new and old couples
  • Counseling registered couples
  • Issuing marriage certificate to registered couples
  • Rendering returns to Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs
